Frequently Asked Questions

Eyelash Extensions:

What are individual eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are synthetic fibers and real mink hairs that are cut and shaped to mimic a natural eyelash. They come in different lengths and thicknesses to give you the look you prefer from natural to dramatic. These lashes are applied one by one to each of your adult natural lashes. Each natural lash holds only 1 lash extension. Lash extensions can only be applied to your “Adult” lashes in order to avoid damage to you natural eyelashes. Lash extensions cannot be applied to the skin, baby or teen lashes.

How long will they last for?

After your full set you will need a fill every 2-3 weeks depending on your natural eyelash shedding cycle and lifestyle. A two week break is recommended every 6 months then a full set can be applied again.

How long until I need a fill?

Fills are recommended every 2-3 weeks. If you like a fuller look then its recommended to get a fill every 2 weeks to keep that full luscious look at all times. Otherwise 3 weeks is great for maintenance.

Are the safe and will they damage my lashes?

Yes! Eyelash Extensions are totally safe as long as they are applied by a Certified Eyelash Technician who has been trained to do Eyelash Extensions and as long as you follow the aftercare instructions. Aftercare instructions are really easy to follow or just ask one of our lash technicians when you come in for your appointment.

Deciding on a Style:

Will I choose a style or will a lash technician choose for me?

On your first visit we’ll discuss what look, natural vs dramatic, you prefer and you will be given a recommendation by our lash technician of what style will best suit you. Depending on your natural lashes and lifestyle, we will discuss and show you pictures to help you understand and choose the best possible option.

What are the different types of lashes that you offer?

We offer 3 types of lashes:

  • Classic (Synthetic) – Fibers made of vinyl. These are dark and shinny and gives a more dramatic look. Recommended for those with healthy thick natural lashes.
  • Silk – Fibers made of silk. These appear much silkier and mother than synthetic and it is also our most popular one.
  • Mink – Real Mink Fur. These are mat, lay a little flatter like a natural lash and last the longest because they are super lightweight.

What different types of styles do you offer?

During your consultation you will be guided on choosing the right style for you based on your eye shape. We offer 3 types of styles:

  • Wispy – long short throughout.
  • Cat Eye – Longer at the ends.
  • Natural – Longer in the middle.
  • Dramatic – All one length.

The Process:

How do you apply the lashes?

Eyelash Extensions are applied one by one on to each natural lash. A gel patch protects the bottom lashes and your eyes are closed for the entire session. Every session is about 1-2 hours long depending on the fullness of your natural lashes. Your lashes are cleaned and primed before the lashing process begins. Using tweezers, one of your lashes is isolated and an extension is lightly dipped into the glue and its placed on top of your natural lash. This process repeats until there is no more “Adult” Lashes left.

Does it hurt?

No. This is a relaxing process where clients are welcomed to fall asleep. Some clients are more sensitive to the glue than others so their eyes water and we have to pause the lashing process to fan the eye. However, this isn’t painful it just feels like you have allergies.

Will I have an allergic reaction?

Chances of an allergic reaction are really slim. There’s 2 things that can go wrong after getting eyelash extensions and both are 100% fixable. 1- you have an allergic reaction to the glue. If this happens you will know within 48 hours because your eyes will he puffed, red and itchy. In this case I ask that you call me immediately so we can remove the lashes and then see your doctor for proper aftercare. 2- irritation. Irritation looks very similar to an allergic reaction but its not as severe and it generally doesn’t last longer than 24 hours. An irritation should be getting better as time passes. If you suffer form allergies you are more likely to have irritation due to lash extensions but just as your allergies fade so will your eye irritation. There is no need to remove your eyelash extension if its just an irritation and it seems to be getting better.

Taking Care of the Lashes:

What should I aviod?

  • After getting Eyelash Extensions the most important thing is to not wet them for the first 24 hours. The glue needs 24 hours minimum to cure and be set.
  • Avoid oil at all cost. Any oil used on or near your eyelashes will break down the bond of the glue and they will fall off in the next few days. It is very important that you use oil-free face wash and moisturizer.
  • Avoid sleeping on your face and pulling and tugging on your lashes.

Lastly, this is major No No! DO NOT attempt to take your lashes off yourself because you will end up pulling off your natural lashes and causing damage.

How do I care for them?

Wash your face as you normally would morning and night only don’t rub your eyes too aggressively. You’ll be given a checklist on your first visit so you can give your lashes a good wash using a clean shadow brush about 3 times a week. You will also be given a spoolie or brush at your first visit so you can brush your lashes morning and night.

Can I wear make up, mascara, or eyeliner?

Yes! Except for traditional mascara because it is too thick and full of chemicals that get stuck in the lash glue. You can purchase “water based” mascara at any beauty store as it is 100% safe for lash extensions.

Can I curl them?

No, unfortunately you cant because the glue will break off. But good news is that the lashes stay curled so there’s no real need for curling!

Removal Process:

What if I want to take them off?

Do NOT take extensions off yourself because you will pull out your natural lashes. Make an appointment for a removal and save your natural lashes.

Is removing the lashes painful?

No, a glue melting gel is applied to your lashes and they slide off as we gently brush your lashes with a Q-tip.

How long does it take?

30 minutes.
